Svahnmärkt DVD
David Bowies Diamond Dogs 40
May 24, 2014 saw the 40th birthday of the David Bowie-album Diamond Dogs. Diamond Dogs is the record that ends Bowie’s glamrock-era and at the same time is sowing the seeds for what will become ”plastic soul”.
On that evening Micke Svahn, one of Sweden’s foremost interpreter of David Bowie, and his band Svahnmärkt performed the whole album live at Bryggarsalen in Stockholm. From the initial dystopia ”Future Legend” to the ending rat race ”Chant Of The Ever Circling Skeletal Family”.
Svahnmärkt is a classic rock trio. What’s making the band unique is being both a Bowie tribute-band and a band with their own original music. At the performance on this DVD Svahnmärkt is reinforced by four musicians: Max Lorentz, Kai Sundquist, Jörgen Sverin and Kjell Allinger. Additional guest artists also participate in several songs.
In the extras we find Max Lorentz’s own version of ”Let’s Dance”, the rarely performed ”Black Country Rock” and a completely unprepared encore in the shape of ”Heroes”.
The concert was a one-off. So, just experience a unique concert on this DVD. Unique both for the audience as well as for the performers in front of and behind the camera!
